Restorative Dentistry

Hawkinsville dentist, Dr. Rence Cheek, has been rebuilding smiles for over three decades. Through continued clinical coursework in restorative techniques and technology, Dr. Cheek has aquired the tools and experience to restore your oral health.

We want our patients to have beautiful, healthy smiles for a lifetime. Our practice offers a comprehensive range of restorative services to help you overcome dental health challenges.

Porcelain Dental Crowns

When a tooth has become structurally compromised by decay or fracture, a dental crown may be required to restore its health and function. A dental crown provides full coverage for the tooth, protecting it from further damage and preserving its place in the mouth. Crowns are also the final step for dental implant restoration procedures.

Crowns are fabricated from porcelain dental materials for strength and esthetics. Porcelain crowns are durable and match the shade and translucency of natural teeth, making them an ideal choice for restoring front teeth, or as a replacement for existing metal restorations.

Once the damaged area is removed, the tooth is shaped for crown placement. The custom-designed porcelain crown is then seated and evaluated for fit and function.

Tooth-colored Fillings

If tooth decay is found during your examination, the damaged portion of the tooth will need to be removed and repaired with a dental filling. Tooth-colored “white” fillings are made of pliable, mercury-free, composite resin material that is bonded to the tooth and hardened with a special curing light. Patients enjoy the option of composite “white” dental fillings vs. amalgam “silver” restorations since they are available in multiple shades to match natural tooth structure.

Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal (gum) disease is the most common cause of tooth loss in adults. Early detection of periodontal disease reduces the risk of permanent damage to teeth and gums and can prevent more extensive and costly treatment in later years. Common signs of periodontal disease are bleeding and swollen gums, persistent bad breath, and gum recession.

Good oral hygiene habits and regular dental checkups can prevent periodontal disease from developing. When signs of gum disease are present, non-surgical periodontal therapy may be recommended.

Treatment may include scaling and root planing procedures, in which the area beneath the gums is carefully cleaned to remove infected tissue and reduce bacteria levels. Periodontal therapy is supported by effective home care, medicated mouth rinses and more frequent dental hygiene visits.

In cases of advanced periodontal disease, Dr. Cheek works closely with periodontal specialists to achieve the best possible outcome for the patient's dental health and restorative needs.
